OUR WAKAYA CAMP HQ ARE LAUNCHED

OUR WAKAYA CAMP HQ ARE LAUNCHED

There was music, dancing, tree planting, heartwarming and emotional speeches, and an official ribbon cutting and pouring of champagne celebration ceremony.

Wakaya Camp, our HQ in Malanje, has officially been opened by Malanje Province Vice Governor Duarte Andre Ginga and Wakaya Chairman Yoav Ben-Eli.

We welcomed our partner community sobas and committees, our art students and teachers, two community dance groups and marimba players, and a large group of stakeholders and family and friends (some of whom flew in for the occasion) to a joyful day introducing our camp facilities and sharing our vision for the future.

People listened to speeches from key stakeholders and joined in dancing with our community groups before gathering to share a delicious meal prepared by a local Malanje caterer.

We want to keep the Camp full of activity – learning, teaching, fun, creativity – and our launch could not have been a better start.

Wakaya is all about education, environment and economic empowerment, but at our heart are the people who were involved in bringing this dream to life, and who will continue to be central to our work from now on.See the video from the day here. (LINK)
