The Challenges in Malanje

In Malanje, traditional farming methods often involve practices such as burning fields to clear land and compensating for depleted soils by expanding into forests, which leads to deforestation and environmental degradation. These methods harm biodiversity, deplete resources, and yield diminishing returns, trapping farmers in a cycle of poverty and environmental damage.

Our Solution: The Farmer Field School

Wa’kaya is establishing a pilot farming plot at our headquarters in Malanje. This demonstration site will serve as a Farmer Field School, a hands-on learning environment where local farmers can see the benefits of eco-agronomy in action.

• Learn by Doing: Farmers will participate in workshops at the pilot plot to learn sustainable farming techniques such as soil improvement methods, composting, and crop rotation.
