Wakaya HQ: A Place to Learn and Grow

Wakaya HQ: A Hub for Learning, Community, and Conservation

Nestled just behind a serene eucalyptus forest on the road into Malanje, Wakaya HQ is more than just a building—it’s the heart of our mission in Angola. This center is designed to be a space of connection, growth, and transformation, where the community and Wakaya’s vision for a brighter future come together.

A Place to Learn and Grow

Wakaya HQ will serve as a hub for training, collaboration, and hands-on learning. True to our mission of empowering communities, it will feature classrooms and a central gathering space, all constructed from locally sourced materials to reflect the values of sustainability and respect for the environment.

“Our HQ is about more than just teaching,” explains Wakaya Founder and Executive Director, Tania Paschen. “It’s about showing what we preach in action.”

To this end, Wakaya HQ will house an indigenous tree nursery—a space where community members can learn the best methods for growing and nurturing young trees. This nursery will be complemented by a pilot agriculture plot, offering farmers a hands-on opportunity to explore new techniques and see their effectiveness firsthand. These facilities are a testament to our belief in practical, accessible education as a path to sustainable progress.

A Space for Everyone

Wakaya HQ isn’t just for learning—it’s also a place to meet, share ideas, and celebrate community. Visitors and community members alike will find a welcoming environment to exchange knowledge and experiences.

As part of our commitment to creating a dynamic space, we’re excited to include a coffee shop and picnic rest stop in the HQ. Tourists and locals passing through Malanje will be able to sit among the trees, enjoy a coffee, and take in the beauty of the environment while learning about Wa’kaya’s work.

Progress and Vision

Construction is already underway on the indigenous tree nursery and the central buildings, which will also house our local office in Malanje. These structures represent the foundation of Wakaya HQ as a creative, collaborative learning space—one that fosters skills, innovation, and harmony with nature.

A Living Example of Our Mission

Wakaya HQ is more than just a physical space; it’s a living example of our commitment to conservation, education, and community-driven development. It’s where ideas will be shared, lives will be transformed, and the seeds of a better future will be planted—both literally and figuratively.

We look forward to opening Wakaya HQ as a beacon of hope and collaboration in Malanje. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project, and we hope to welcome you soon to experience it for yourself!
