David Ben-Eli, MD, FACEP, FAEMS holds American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) certifications in Emergency Medicine and in EMS Medicine.
He is an EMS Medical Director with the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), where he is a Division Medical Director, the Medical Director for the Haz-Tac Battalion (providing the medical component for Haz-Mat operations), the Medical Director for Resident/Medical Student Education, the Medical Director for the FDNY Excellence in Clinical Care award, and a Response Physician.
Dr. Ben-Eli regularly participates in teaching and training of EMTs, paramedics, medical students, EM residents, and EMS fellows. Additionally, Dr.
Ben-Eli chairs the Medical Standards Committee of the NYC Regional Emergency Medical Advisory Committee (REMAC, where he takes part in defining, writing, and updating citywide prehospital protocols), is an Attending Emergency Physician at Mount Sinai Health, a Medical Team Manager for FEMA USAR NY-TF1 and FDNY SOC TF, and a former commander and flight surgeon in an elite special operations Search & Rescue military unit (rank: Major).
Dr. Ben-Eli is part of large-scale NYC citywide trials and initiatives that are in the forefront of prehospital medical care and innovation (STEMI, LVO Stroke, ECPR). Dr. Ben-Eli did his Emergency Medicine Residency at the NYU /Bellevue program and an EMS Fellowship at the FDNY / Northwell program.
