Teacher Training: Building the Foundations for Education
In many of the communities where Wa’kaya operates, access to formal education is severely limited. Schools are often nonexistent, and where they do exist, finding qualified teachers is a significant challenge. Despite these obstacles, there are individuals within these villages who have stepped up, taking on informal teaching roles. They provide basic literacy and education with minimal resources, but without proper training or alignment with national standards, their potential impact remains constrained.
The Wa’kaya Teacher Training Program aims to change this by equipping these informal educators with the skills, resources, and support they need to make a real difference in their communities.
About the Program
Our initiative begins with identifying key individuals in each village who are already engaged in informal teaching or are passionate about contributing to their community’s education. These individuals become our focal points, playing an integral role not just in teaching but also in advancing other Wa’kaya projects like the Kids Club and community tree nurseries.
