At Wa’kaya, we believe that fostering a deep connection with nature begins in childhood. Our new project, Trees for Life Children’s Book, is a powerful tool to educate and inspire young minds, their families, and communities about the critical role trees play in our environment and our lives.

About the Book and Program

Trees for Life is more than just a book—it’s the foundation of an interactive learning journey. Written by Wa’kaya founder Tania Paschen and beautifully illustrated by Angolan artist Tche, the book uses engaging stories and vibrant visuals to introduce key themes such as:

• The importance of trees to ecosystems and human life.
• The role of trees in combating climate change and protecting biodiversity.
• The value of nurturing and preserving nature for future generations.

To accompany the book, we’ve developed a comprehensive learning and comprehension program. This program encourages children to read the book with their families, discuss its themes, and participate in activities designed to deepen their understanding of nature-based solutions.

How It Works

Our Trees for Life program begins with community-based reading sessions led by trained facilitators. These sessions include:
